Certificate signed by one of the former group commanders John B. Henry and the association secretary Steve C. Ananian, who is also a P-51 pilot, was delivered on 7th February 2006. Text of the certificate:
"The members of the 339th Fighter Group Association
bestow honorary membership to...
The Museum of Air Battle Over the Ore Mountains 11 Sept, 44
in gratitude for their dedication and assistance in recording
and perpetuating the group’s history."
The honorary membership in the 339th FG is a great honor for our Museum, and we are delighted with this achievement. Our effort, and dedication in recreating the history can never be on the same level as the blood and the sweat given by pilots and ground crews of the 339th FG, not only on September 11th, 1944, but also during the liberation of our country in the spring of 1945.

339th Fighter Group bestowed an honorary membership to this Museum. Following the 100th BG Foundation, this is the second veteran organization of the USAAF in which the Museum is officially part of, and which took a role in the air battle on September 11th, 1944.
